What is Kybella?
Just a little extra fat in the upper neck area may cause the appearance of a "double chin" that may be unwanted to both women and men. The excess pockets of fat below the chin (or the submental area) may be caused by genetics, weight fluctuations, or aging that lead to a softer jawline and chin for a less defined profile. Dr. Abraham (Avi) Ishaaya in Los Angeles, CA is happy to provide a revolutionary method to get rid of neck fat at Optima Medical Spa.
Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Kybella is a nonsurgical option for upper neck fat. The active ingredient in Kybella is a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid (DA), which acts similarly to your body's natural DA. Its job is to break down and absorb fat cells. After Kybella has been injected below the chin, you may see a visible reduction in the amount of fat. When the fat is destroyed, the cells cannot reform so you are able to enjoy your new slim neck and strong jawline for years to come.

Who Qualifies for Kybella?
Kybella can remove small to moderate amounts of fat in the submental (under your chin) area. If you have larger amounts of fat, then you may need a surgical procedure to get the look you want. This injectable fat reduction treats stubborn areas of fat that cannot be reduced with normal weight loss. Even if you are at a healthy weight, diet and exercise may not work to remove the fat in your neck. Kybella may be the right option for your needs.
Kybella is performed during an appointment in one of our treatment rooms. Dr. Ishaaya will numb the treatment area, if preferred, once the skin is clean. The injections last about 15 – 20 minutes. Some patients may need one treatment to reach their desired goal while others may require multiple treatments. We will space your injection appointments at least three weeks apart for the best results.
After Your Appointments
You will be able to leave the office to return to your normal activities after a Kybella injection session. You may have short-term swelling, numbness, or bruising under your chin; however, this shouldn't last longer than 2 – 3 days. Contact Optima Medical Spa right away if you are experiencing any unusual symptoms, like facial muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing, or if your facial expressions are uneven. While the fat cells that are destroyed do not regenerate, the cells leftover can still enlarge so you need to manage your weight after so new pockets of fat do not form. Optimal results after this treatment leave your neck looking slimmer. Your profile will appear better defined.
